PARISH BBQ – GUESTS AND VOLUNTEERS
Thanks for making our September 11th gathering a splendid success! We thank our more than 40 volunteers for offering their time and talents: selling tickets, setting up the grounds, decorating our tables with fresh flowers, preparing, and serving food, guiding children in play. We are especially grateful for the karate demo lead by Karaté Sportif, our neighbour, and the Irish dancing performance presented by the Bernadette Short School of Irish Dancing – children of every age loved them! Pictures are posted at the back of the church. May God bless our journey together.
INDIGENOUS PEOPLES AND RECONCILIATION
September 30th is Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, and is celebrated everywhere in Canada. It provides us with the opportunity to reflect on the messages expressed by Pope Francis on his “penitential pilgrimage” to Canada in July. More can be found at: The Audacity of Pope Francis | Diocese of Montreal (diocesemontreal.org)
O Saint Kateri, Lily of the Mohawks, Your love for Jesus, so strong, so steadfast, grant that we may become like you.
ADULT CAFÉ – LISTENING TO INDIGENOUS VOICES
Join us this fall for four evenings of listening and reflection on the history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and its legacy as it plays out today; unlearn stereotypes and misconceptions; and seek ways to de-colonize, re-Indigenize, and build right relationships with Indigenous Peoples. Four themes will be explored
- Tuesday, October 18th – Indigenous Creation Stories
- Thursday, November 3rd – The Land and its meaning to Indigenous Peoples
- Tuesday, November 15th – Dispossession, Dependency & Oppression; and
- Tuesday, November 29th – Re: Indigenization.
All workshops will be held in the Parish Hall, from 7pm to 9pm. The workshops are free of charge, but participants may choose to buy the Jesuit Forum’s “Listening to Indigenous Voices” guide at $19.95 + shipping charges. Registration required: please call the Parish Office at 514-695-7100.
