CHRISTMAS FOOD COLLECTION 2022

THANK YOU to the amazing parishioners of Saint Edmund’s who donated so generously to our annual Christmas Food Collection! Special thanks to our youth, families and parishioners who helped sort, pack and deliver 166 boxes of food and gifts to St. Willibrord Parish (Verdun), St. Francis of Assisi Parish (Park Extension), Nazareth House and Resilience Montreal. All are deeply grateful to our parish community for reaching out to them at this special time of the year. “The Giver of every good and perfect gift has called upon us to mimic his giving, by grace and through faith” – Saint Nicholas

JESUS COMES TO EACH ONE OF US AT CHRISTMAS

Sometimes the seasons of our lives line up nicely with the liturgical year – Christmas comes when we are feeling joyful anticipation, when our families are peaceful and loving, when other babies are being welcomed. But most of the time, the seasons don’t line up, and Jesus comes anyway. Whatever we are carrying right now – grief, conflict, infertility, unemployment, marriage difficulties or illness – none of it is too messy for Jesus to come. Joseph and Mary deliver an unplanned baby in a stable far away from home, and then become refugees right away. Christmas is not a celebration for those who have it all together, but a declaration that God wants to be in the mess with you. That is something to celebrate and hope for.

Dear Parishioners and Visitors,

May our celebration of the Nativity be one of joy, peace and love.   God bless you.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,

From the clergy… Fr. Jessie, Deacon Bob and St. Edmund’s Parish Staff
